STRUKTUREN – Körper und Grenzen
Choreographisches Laboratorium

STRUCTURES – bodies and borders
Choreographic Laboratory

In this choreographic laboratory we will research on the body as a border and its ability to operate within spacial and temporal borders. What potential and knowledge does the human body bear in itself? How do we treat human bodies in society and what does that tell about our contemporary body-self-conception?

Dance as an art of moving bodies is acknowledged for being paradigmatic for a present state of being as well as for direct immediate communication. Likewise this ephemeral form of art refers to a continuum of being in motion and emphasizes the fluidity and unassailability of past and future moments. Even though or because of its boundedness to the present, there are various strategies to escape the current here and now: abstract thinking, memory, projection, imagination, dreams, stories and fairytales, immersion, empathy etc.. All these describe methods to trespass limits of a material concrete and immediate, to think connections, correlations as well as to design a personal landscape of the world.

The starting-point of this choreographic laboratory is the material body in the concrete here and now, which enables to communicate with the surrounding in the present moment as well as to make a change or take action. These bodies are organized and orientate themselves within certain boarders while at the same time being a limited system in itself.

Themes: body as material (in space and time) / object-subject relation / body as a medium / imagination / projection / concentration and potential / body as signifier, representative and symbol / knowledge of bodies / body-logics / body as part of /…

No dance-experience needed
The laboratory is open for anybody who is curious to research through movement and structures of improvisation ones own body and its being in the world as well as to reflect on this together.
We will be dancing! – Please bring clothes you can move in!
