a visual dialogue between movement & space
von Inge Gappmaier & Natali Glišić
A gentle touch meets a steel girder, the concrete floor becomes a headrest, and a person becomes the bearer of an entire building structure. How does the materiality and presence of the human body relate to urban architecture? What spaces do bodies create, or what bodily sensations does urban space create?
With without body, photographer Natali Glišić and choreographer Inge Gappmaier explore unusual movements and moments of lingering in public space. The dancer’s sensitive integration into her immediate environment is an act of appropriation and care for transitional spaces; the photographs captured portray places that receive little attention in everyday life. without body aims to encourage viewers to question prevailing spatial politics, reflect on their own movements in public space, and find new ways of lingering.
