lines.

lines. is a dialogue between a body and a delicate geometric spatial construct that expands throughout the entire room. The choreographic installation, consisting of elastic cords, shifts perspectives and focuses on changing materiality and physical intelligence. How do the structures that surround us influence our understanding of movement and existence? The performance explores the contemporary self-conception of the human body within concrete and imaginary structures. It reflects on the manifestations of logics and the possibilities of corresponding and interacting with them.

Based on the idea of a playing field that can be played on by human bodies, the installation lines. lifts off the concrete floor as a geometrically ordered but also elastic structure. Magnets at the ends of the strings allow them to be repeatedly repositioned and tensioned. Moving one string changes the entire network.

Games, gaming formats and immersion in unfamiliar, virtual worlds enable us to experience utopias, places where the structures of everyday life are suspended and new rules can be tried out. They are protected spaces for discovering new structures, encounters, thought patterns and connections. At a time when physical co-presence in space and time is no longer absolutely necessary for communication, these spatio-temporal overlaps can easily lead to overload. Places and structures with clearly defined, unchanging rules, detached from a concrete space and time, become places of escape and longing. The human model of homo economicus, whose social behaviour is based on game theory, has become increasingly ingrained in our society’s self-image.

lines. invites you to enter the realm of possibilities of a concrete yet elastic game structure with your own body, to explore your own space between a rule-bound system (game) and form-free creativity (play), and to enable new encounters and interactions.
