The widely used suffix -gate usually describes scandals with far-reaching socio-political consequences. The installative dance performance deals with states of exception and loss of control, moments of wonder, the comprehensibility of the incomprehensible, and that which connects us. With physical poetry, – g a t e describes the emergence of the unexpected and takes us into an elastic spatial construct that unsettles the ground we thought was solid. Astonishing?
In an interactive stage design made of white strings, four dancers move in collective singularity between clinical cleanliness and playful experimentation with gravity. They stir up dust, fall and float. Inge Gappmaier stages the human body as a dust-producing organism, interwoven in an elastic construct of scandals. – g a t e focuses on the disruption of logically systematised (thinking) systems, opens up new spaces of possibility and questions the interplay between bodies and the structures that surround them.
PRESSESTIMMEN
‘A dance performance as it should be. With ’-gate‘, Inge Gappmaier shows how expressionful dance can be even without words. (…) The dance alone, the precise movements of the four on stage, the interplay of isolation and community, of silence and noise, of tension and relaxation, is all it takes to celebrate a high-quality evening.’

´The interactive version revealed a whole new set of exciting observations. Concepts like this show me that digital dance and theatre performances can be fun too! The theme of complex interconnections in everyday space was explored in a very interesting way through the relationships between the dancers and the stage installation, while at the same time the action on stage remained light and spontaneous. Great concept and clever staging, applause to all those involved!´
